i so enjoy this!

Mine To Give translation

obviously stopped somewhere between april and june … but why?

this is so much fun!

Once I sit to translate, I don’t want to stop. Asked my Mom a few weeks ago if she’d read it and give me advice. (W.H.A.T.???) That’s correct; that’s how desperate — mighty strong word, er, eager — I am to publish it in Spanish. Must tread carefully. Even my son was like 😳 when I told him.

I am hesitant to send her that first chapter — nail-chewing, is there such an emoji? No, but there’s lip biting 🫦 — yet I want proper, correct Spanish and dialogue, so it’s in Spanish as it is in English. But I don’t want over-criticism and nagging and cantaletas (litanies).

what do i do?

I say: go for it! a) I may be pleasantly surprised, b) I could tell her to pound sand 🙃. Not really, more like: “thank you, but I think we will argue too much, and I don’t want that.” My Rolodex mind is frantically rolling around for her comment:

aha, got it!

— accompanied by a serious shrug of the shoulders and head + a mouth twist, “I thought you said you want it to be good. You don’t speak Spanish and I … blah-blah-blah.” But, on the other hand, none of this may happen. Silly, yet most likely accurate, to think I know the future. Still …

what do i do?

go for it, nena! you will never know unless you try.
