(no pun intended!)

is dust?

(besides a nuisance)

where

does it come from? I mean, it’s everywhere. Appears like nothing, out of nowhere, for who-knows-what-reason, yet doesn’t go away the same way.

and why, o why,

does it have to exist? Really. Does it even have to? What if there was 0, no, nada de dust, no dust bunnies (or horses or monsters)? Is there no fluff on baseboards or a thin cover on otherwise beautiful wood furniture or walls? I’ve written this prompt in numerous places, and it’s time to tackle it.

ˈdəst

dust is, ladies and gents, simply, according to Merriam-Webster:
1: fine particles of matter (as of earth)
2: the particles into which something disintegrates

otherwise, i did not find

a scientific explanation for dust — except a short paragraph in National Geographic Education and different dust types in Wikipedia. Aah, but there is a book titled The Secret Life of Dust*, published in 2001. According to the acknowledgment page,

there’s information out there

I just can’t find it — wish I could say the same thing about dust. =) I must admit the tidbits I read online caught my attention, and I just might order the book. Reading it was effortless … and who doesn’t like that?

could have filed this to post another day, but i have too much to do already. truly thought i would find information more readily, but no.

plus, once posted, it’ll be done, though surely to continue once i learn about those pesky particles.
