sonnet 27
“A part of what exactly?”
He purses his lips. “A change. I had no idea how bad, but I knew that day she was for me. Per-haps for a while or just a neight,” he shrugs, “but she was for me. I wanted her as I’ve never wanted anyone else befor.”
“Was she yours for a neight then took over your meind?”
Sinjin places the lamb chops in the pan and turns to his brother, resting his back on the counter. “She’s never been mine.”
Sèan opens the book to a marked page and then looks at his brother. He’s got no words to offer. No thoughts to think.
Brian walks in and stands on the threshold. “What’s going on?”
Sèan looks away from Sinjin, unable to set his brain in motion. He looks at Brian, at his brother again, then turns back to the page. The words now mean a lot more than he had anticipated. And he reads them out loud.
