slicing an apple right now

after lunch—literally:

slices still on the cutting board —  I am slightly surprised at how easy (or easier than I imagined|thought) it is to do what I truly want. I mean, let’s get real: I do what I want, sassy as that sounds, but not so much what I truly want. And there’s a world of difference between the two.

i still say to myself:

later, tomorrow, next week, blah-blah, though less often. So, after eating lunch and before putting away groceries, I saw an apple and a knife I put on a cutting board last night and was just about to ignore it, but then turned back to it before going to do who-knows-what.

it is so not me

that I stopped to pen this post on the back of an envelope (opened mail while eating lunch) before squeezing a little lime juice on the slices and putting them in a container. It is more me now | lately to do instead of putting off. You may not get it, or you may be bored even if you do. Probably lost some readers already, but the reason for this preamble is change.

i, for one, love change*

Thrive in it — it’s what I call growing. And not just any growth, but change that benefits everyone, leaving no soul out. Whether you know them or not, or they’re in Timbuktu. Change within you expands and extends, lights and brightens. If you are in a corner of your mind … you are most likely heading to not-so-bright places.

i like the idea

of people being not so much good or bad, but healthy and unhealthy, or as I read before: people are either heading toward suffering or heading away from suffering. Which implies the possibility of heading the other way again. Therefore, the need to stay on the path.

anywho, not leaving

for later something as trivial as slicing an apple, that has been waiting since last night; the moment I was struck by it (because I did see it earlier, it was on the kitchen counter!) is thrilling in a tranquil way (quiet just didn’t fit).

ate more than half the apple slices while writing this, which is ok because i just ate lunch (going snackless for the month), and apple (anything, actually) right after a meal is dessert. in my book. in any book =)

not really about me,
but global, i mean:
who wouldn’t want to be heading
away from suffering?

* was told once (when i asked which season i resemble most, and expecting summer to be the answer) that i resemble spring. one: i used to dislike spring. two: get real. me? who back then was an ocean | beach queen? but the explanation made sense, although more now than then:

you are always changing, like trees and flowers in spring, revolving, new. i kinda liked that. why did i ask such a question? it was in a book, and i voiced it out loud.

did i complete the circle(s) or leave a lot of them open?
