short + sweet, or so i thought:

i’ve said it before,

and i’ll say it again
’til i’m blue in the face:
(silly phrase)

i love words

now, love is a strong word

but I do have an affinity and exuberance about them. I have wanted to post about words for who knows how long, and probably because there are so many that make me catch my breath when I see or use them, I  give up. No more.

Today’s words are not

favorites and they definitely don’t have the qualities described above, yet they’re inducing me to write because their definitions are enlightening — and for sure not what I thought. Ready? Envy and jealousy. Whaaaat? Yes.

ENVY: desiring (not wanting) something someone else has, has done, is
JEALOUSY: fear of losing, or the quality of, a relationship (attention, affection, resources)

WHICH meanS THAT

one isn’t jealous of someone’s trip to Italy or a beautiful garden but envious. That’s right. But envy connotes something negative, no? Something we should not do because it’s an awful emotion or because we think we’re lacking? Not sure, but it made me think, so I write.

What do you

(think you, as in “I”, not anyone else) need that makes you afraid that you do not have or may be unable to keep? Something to ponder.
