I like clothes:

there, I said it.

and there’s nothing wrong with that

I have been blessed with two incredible women in my life who appreciate looking good and having nice clothes. Blessed or cursed? Not sure, but it’s in my genes. Whether I look good or not is another story; this post is about touchy-feely stuff.

i like lines, aesthetics,

color — and, yes, white, especially in linen, is a color. Like angles (though not Algebra 🤮) and triangles, and steel. Don’t ask why. And slate. T’is what it is. Telling you because I went shopping last week and grabbed everything my sweeping eyes liked and purchased most of it, and feel giddy. Superficial? Perhaps.

but it indicates the happiness

I get from things I like. And most of what I like is not tangible. So, to have tangibility (that is a word) every once in a while doesn’t hurt. When I have something I like, me, moi, yo, io, I smile. And then bliss follows, and then wholeheartedness, purity, humility. From a pair of pants and a shirt????? No, yes … well, no, from

the derivative of them: tranquility

From a pair of pants and a shirt????? 😄 No! Mhmm. Perhaps I’ll start with one of this morning’s questions: What is the remedy for a bad day? I answered: prayer, music, cleaning. How this got me to the things I like is obvious now, no?

i pondered why i haven’t

been too prayerful lately, don’t play music much, and therefore do not dance as much as I want like to (if I truly wanted to, I would), and why my house is not clean the way I’d like it to be clean (same old, same old). Still doesn’t tie up with the clothes, but trust me: it made sense earlier.

The whole point is that we (I) have the option to choose what gratifies the soul — not the mind, appetites, or desires. Instead of a pair of pants and a shirt (it was all plural, BTW), it may be repotting a plant, tossing old and unused irrelevant magazines (😳), calling someone, responding to a text, or paying a bill.

may i go on?

Turning off the television — or turning it on to learn something wholesome if no TV is your thing (it is mine), spending the extra minutes to figure something out, find the document, tidy that drawer, clean out the fridge. Whatever. You’d be pleasantly surprised (I am every time) at what centering and balancing the self will do for you and those around and beyond you.
