Exactly what he said as he closed the car door. My husband made fun of me because we (at long last) found one of my favorite pasta.

the same (says the same about salt. no. way.) It’s not all about taste anyway, dude! It’s also about texture and how you complement it or not. So it is also about texture. Why I don’t eat yogurt. Ugh! Or as my son likes to text: Ew.

i eat most pasta

(though dislike spaghetti and angel hair — this last one I’ll eat if super-duper al dente, therefore in salads), but have an affinity for straight-edged, no-ridge pasta: Ziti. It has a name, mister.

pointed out to my husband, that I said prefer. Tonight was the first time we had this pasta since we met, and that was over 15 years ago! So, obviously, I can do without it — mezzi rigatoni (or as I lovingly call them rigs): un-uh.

and like, and usually drink: neat, straight, naked. I try them all and drink most. If I don’t like it, I may add a drop or two of water, but I seldom do so. By the way: there’s a chapter in Mine To Give titled Highlanders Only Like Two Things Naked.

She lays the book on the table and takes the glass. “Straight?”

“As the saeing goes: Highlanders like only two things naked — whisky’s one of them.” He brings a small glass of Sambuca for himself and sits close to her. “Neat if you ask for it in a restaurant. Slàinte.”

Salud.” The glass is weighty and gorgeous. She tastes the whisky.

“How is it?”

“Tastes like glue.”
