i will re-read DUNE.

My son had asked me to read it since he read it, probably close to twenty years ago. I finally read it last year. It is an amazing book.

i seldom re-read books

because I experience them differently — they are not as good (except for mine, those I can re-read, and do,  the way I now drink water 🙃, without effort). Since I have a few books in different stages of reading (obviously not enthralling enough yet), I will give myself this month to finish them. It should not take that long. Perhaps I should get on a reading horse too!

When I read something bodacious, I either mark it with a piece of paper or sticky tab, or write it somewhere. Or both. The following excerpt from DUNE is written in a few places, including a post-to-be, which won’t be because it’s here. I even remember the page number.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

(it is much more meaningful in context, even if just my own)

october 05: cutting across the tv room saw on the screen that DUNE has been postponed until october 2021 =\ may read the other books in the series and then re-read DUNE next autumn

(rebooting and reposting in 2024 and … I didn’t do either =( So me.)
