bit like 2021. And I would like to do the same thing too, but have to-dos that seem more important. Spent the last four days in Maine with the grandkids 💙, so I wasn’t home, and a lot went undone.

One of my goals this week (as it was last week, but as I said, we were away) is to start planning what I want to do in the flower and vegetable beds — maybe change it up a bit. My husband wants me to add plants in spots where he doesn’t want to drive the lawnmower.*

so i’m all for that, except that the area is a bit shady and

overall, I seem to prefer sun-loving plants, although (I must admit) some of my plants and flowers get a bit overcooked. So perhaps I’ll move those and learn what others I could add (love to learn, but it requires time, and for some reason I live as if I don’t have any. Cray-cray, I know).

I ordered and purchased dahlias, as well as ranunculus (which I tried to grow last year but didn’t succeed, but will try one more time), and other gardening tools | gadgets. But still have to wrap my head around the whole idea so that it:

  1. makes sense — visually, plus some plants | vegetables benefit from being paired with others (see above note on learning)

  2. is seasonal — have spring, summer, fall plantings and few bare spots: prettier and discourages weeds)

  3. is critter-proof where not fenced

  4. is easy to water — we have sprinklers, but some don’t reach certain areas; others water too much or too high, blah-blah-blah. I put it off every year, but NOT THIS ONE …

we-can-adjust-them!!!

March 20-26, 2023 goals (not personal goals, there are five of those too)

  1. begin garden plan (includes calling a landscaper to revamp the front hill. Wow! It’s been in shambles since Oct 2021! Ugh²) Aside: In Shambles is a chapter title in Mine To Give =)
  2. finish pantry curtain
  3. begin kitchen curtain
  4. organize desk | area
  5. declutter
those last two sound familiar, don’t they?

few years back, I wasn’t home (think I was visiting my family in New Jersey), he and the lawnmower went down a steep hill on the side of the house. The way he tells the story is funny, but oof! he’s fortunate to have escaped without a scratch; the lawnmower not so much. =)

could ours EVER be that neat + precise?
