i want to go!

I haven’t written much about travel because I have not traveled since the Seattle trip in 2018. My amazing traveling experiences are of old. Hmm, but sometimes, running errands is amazing. What makes amazing experiences are people and sights, and those are everywhere. So I might expand travel to include just going.

By the definitions of travel in Merriam-Webster: yes, I have traveled since Seattle. I just have not gotten on a plane. If pressed as to where would I go — not like to go, as that would be St. Andrews, Scotland. Again. For weeks, even a whole summer. I’d give up gardening and growing veg for a year.
So I have no idea. Puerto Rico first, I think, to see my mother and siblings there. Actually, now that I write this, I could see all my siblings on one trip by stopping in different cities on my way home. Could I stand it? 😆 Could they? 😆 I think so.

BUT I WANT TO GO TO A PLACE WHERE THERE WILL BE NO EXPECTATIONS. WHERE I CAN SPEAK ONLY WHEN I WANT TO.

Anywho, I wistfully wish to travel because I like to experience people and locales, but sometimes remember that people and locales are outside my door. So, I want to travel for the journey, which differs from travel. There’ll be the anticipation of going, then the packing, maybe buying something new before heading out. And the trip to the airport — that’s where it begins for me. I ❤️ airports. It’s like an hour-long massage (not that I have had many of those. I have definitively traveled tons more than I have had massages!) but longer and better. Don’t ask me why. It just is. As I mentioned previously:

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote that he loved to travel for travel’s sake – one of my favorite quotes. I get it. I could travel just to travel too. Love airports. The solitude among throngs. The envisioned hope of a destination.

Perhaps it is the distance from the routine and the known, the everyday. And, of course, it is every day to whoever lives where you are going, so what makes the difference is the going. Reading can do the same. Good reading or good writing takes me away, too, and reminds me of another Robert Louis Stevenson quote.
