i couldn’t explain what this is,
except the foreign sense i have — of wonder and vision and newness
We arrived home last night. I will miss the orange juice, carrot juice, croissants, the coffee … will endeavor to duplicate. That is better than yearning. Bought a juicer, and illy espresso coffee so I can make the café con leche I enjoyed so much.
To pick up where I left off after the 21st of May. On the 22nd, we attended the opening of the Bad Bunny European tour.
💃🏽 FLIPPING 🎶 MADNESS 💃🏽
Getting there was a chore (what else is new?) and uphill (why not, everywhere is) and mobbed. It was a sunny, hot afternoon — we enjoyed warm sunny days every day in Spain, thank you very much! And I was so done with trekking! HA! We had four and a half more days that did not decrease in intensity. Anyway, I have never stood through a concert, an over two and a half hour concert, and I did not sing a few songs I didn’t know, so for over two and a half hours I was perreando, shimming, dancing, belting out tunes along with the majority of the concert goers (I would say all, but my husband was not =). It was quite an evening. Leaving the Olympic Stadium got dicey due to the sheer number of people. We learned a couple of days later that thousands of ticketless fans stood outside the stadium to enjoy the concert too 😳. That explained the cluster****.
after a hectic friday night, we took a train to Montserrat
and again, the ride was quite welcomed to tired feet. The rocky terrain, cool breeze, and quieter atmosphere were a reprieve. But the day was not over, as we went to a flamenco show for dinner.
On Sunday, we boarded a plane to Granada in the south of Spain, where it was mid-90s and arid. And had tickets for the Alhambra at 7:15. We had enough time to unpack a little (only there 2 days), and have lunch. A few sections of the Alhambra’s Nasrid Palaces are under construction, but the place is still magnificent. Jaw-dropping magnificent. And the gardens! Our hotel was just as outstanding, though it was on the highest point in the city, so walking to it from the town below was HA-RRO-WING.
i’ll cut it short —
my friend would have already given me the signal. We went to Madrid to depart for Boston only, but while walking in the city that last morning, my husband and I knew we will come back to Madrid and see it properly. I wanted to see the Crystal Palace, so we went, but it was 100% covered for reconstruction. 100% of it. I have never seen a massive building wrapped up with plastic wrap!
anywho — nos veremos pronto, si Dios quiere.
Most of the photographs in this post and the last are not mine, as I have not had time to curate my trove.
