same old, same old
but with a new feeling, a vibe
My husband and I are at odds =) about the garden. Big time. I want more flowers. He wants more tomatoes. We’re running out of space — not really … but we are running out of something =) Well, of dedicated space for the flowers or tomatoes that we may not tend to properly for sure.
So, on this coolish April day, I make lists, plans, drawings, organize seed packets and photos of the dahlias I will soon receive in the mail. Nothing new, but def with a strong sense of endeavor.
I want to create patches in the beds for this, that, & the other — mainly for seeds. Some packets are beyond old, but I might as well throw them in the soil instead of the compost. Although … they will probably do well there.
We had trees taken down last week. Seventeen of them, and the airflow, light, and spaciousness are magnificent. At least seven more should have gone, but this is great for now. Our property is surrounded, taken over, by trees.
We are ahead of the gardening curve because the lawn is getting a makeover by a landscaping company 😮. At last. How my husband made that decision is beyond me. Even if he continues to tend to it after, it was a big step for him to take, to let go.
So in anticipation of being unable to walk on the yard, we are doing what we usually, slowly, begin in May. May (no pun intended!!!) have to learn how to fly or vault to reach the gardens out back — nothing is keeping me off. 🤫
