every now + then a

book surprises me
I began reading Lessons in Chemistry yesterday and ended up reading until midnight. I don’t feel the same this morning, though, as I did last night. Yes, I like it; it moves and is fast, but it tells too much and comes across as a bit condescending. That may not be the correct word. =\ Ok, got it: patronizing.
bought it on a whim
as I had seen it so many times in my forays at the bookstore and decided, what the heck, i’ll bite. Was intrigued a week or two ago when I read a great accolade. So on my way to an appointment yesterday, I picked it up. Not your pocket-sized book — couldn’t throw it in my bag, but off it went. It may still surprise me yet again if it turns out to not be what I now expect. Will see.
am i still on the a.c. bandwagon
you wonder? Yes, although I keep forgetting to get the 2nd book — The Secret Adversary. So am I really reading Agatha Christie’s books in order? That’s the plan. But with holidays and travel, etc., getting the book slipped my mind. Actually, I saw it on a friend’s shelf last week but got wrapped up in conversation and forgot to ask if I could borrow it.
yes, i can buy it or
download it or get it from the library, but she’s also an avid Agatha Christie fan, and perhaps we can do this marathon together? Not that I need that, but it may be neat + fun, I think. Meanwhile, I just resurfaced (like that?) Come, Tell Me How You Live (for the 3rd time. Cripes!).
restrained myself from buying more books at christmastime!
not easy, but—wait, yea, it was easy. just said no.
what’s so hard about that?
